Sports
Dr. A. K. Ghosh Memorial Cricket Tournament is conducted every year during winter. Dr. A.K Ghosh was one of the founder members of Al-Kabir Polytechnic and has inspired many people so in his honor a cricket tournament is organized every year.
Not only cricket, other sports like Athletics, Football, Volleyball and Table Tennis tournaments are also conducted in the college premises
Adventure Sports:
In Al-Kabir Polytechnic various adventure sports like trekking, river rafting, water sports, rock climbing and parasailing are organized in association with TSAF (Tata Steel Adventure Foundation) and Bihar adventure association. Students have shown great interest in these sports and have build up good spirit.
Blood Donation
Al-Kabir Polytechnic in association with Jamshedpur Blood Bank and VBDA (Voluntary Blood Donor Association, Jharkand) organize an annual blood donation camp. This blood donation camp was stared in the year 2001 with an active participation of the students as well as the staff members.
This year in 2010, the blood donation camp was a huge success. A whooping 304 donors were present for this event. It was an honor for the college because, it received the “Tahir Memorial Shield “for the highest one-day donation in institution category.
Survey carried out by various agencies in Indian Engg./ Diploma colleges reveals that only 5% of the freshers are employable and 15% are trainable, the remaining 80% are either under employed or unemployed.
The major short comings identified are, poor communication skills (specially in English), lack of leadership qualities, poor team work, poor application of professional knowledge etc.
Al-Kabir Polytechnic has taken measures to overcome these deficiencies by conducting specialized training programs right from first year till they pass out, to improve the employability of the students. It includes training in.
