Al Kabir Polytechnic

Electrical Engineering

The Electrical Engineering department provides the spark to advance knowledge and educate students in its domain like power generation, power transmission, innovation and real life application. The electrical engineering branch started in 1994 with an intake capacity of 30 students which gradually increased to 180 students with the years. The department is well equipped with sophisticated laboratories like basic electrical engineering Lab, electrical machine lab, measurement lab, electrical workshop which enables to achieve the objectives like identifying, formulating and solving complex electrical engineering problems along with equipping and training the students to develop, research, design and supervise the installation of various electrical systems in industries and real life scenarios.

Vision

To become a center of excellence in the field of imparting education in Electrical Engineering and developing skill on par with the eminent institutions of the country and guide the students to become responsible citizens and competent professionals.

Mission

  • To impart high quality education in Electrical Engineering and related skills for the uplift of students and thus the society at large.
  • To become a regional focal point in human resource development and other training activities related with electrical engineering field by good institution-industry exposure and interaction.
  • To aim and upgrade faculty for higher education with continuous improvement in the areas related to technical and scientific knowledge.
  • To practice and promote high standard of professional ethics, transparency and accountability.

Lab description:

The department is equipped with the following labs

Machine Lab:

This Lab is equipped with all types of AC and DC motors and generators ranging from 0.5 kW to 5 kW for performing all types of experiments and studying the characteristics of the machines. Some machines are in disassembled condition such as 100 kVA, three-phase transformer to make the students aware of the internal parts and constructional details. The lab has different types of manual and automatic motor starters. Motors can be given mechanical as well as electrical loading like Resistive, inductive and capacitive for studying their performance characteristics.

Measurement Lab:

This Lab provides with experimental set-ups for studying Transducers like LVDT, DC Potentiometer, Kelvin Double Bridge, Energy Meter, Earth Tester, Transformer oil testing set for BDV-Test.

Electrical Workshop and Circuit Lab:

In this Lab the students can practice fabrication of electrical house wiring circuits, repairing of all types of house appliances. They can also verify the fundamental laws of Electrical Engineering. The lab has a display of all types of electrical tools, accessories and house-wiring demonstration panel to make the students aware of their use.
